| 520 | |a ObjectiveThe aim of the present study was to validate a German language version of the internationally established short version of the therapeutic factors inventory (TFI); therefore, a time-saving and psychometrically sound instrument to assess therapeutic change factors in group therapy will become available in the German language.Material and methodsA total of 303 patients (110 outpatients and 193 inpatients) participated in the study and completed the TFI as well as another established questionnaire concerning change processes in group therapy. The outpatients additionally completed questionnaires concerning symptomatology and filled out all instruments at the beginning and end of treatment.ResultsConfirmatory factor analyses indicated a generally acceptable model fit, replicating the subscales of the original English language instrument with some slight limitations. The subscales of the instrument demonstrated acceptable internal consistency and revealed concurrent validity with an established measure of group processes. Concerning the criterion-related validity, sporadic associations were found between increases in change factors across the course of therapy and symptom change.ConclusionA German language version of a theoretically sound instrument with slight psychometric limitations is now available for time-saving assessment of group therapeutic change factors. | ||
