| 520 | |a Background: For more than 30 years, the St. Gallen International Consensus Conference on the treatment of patients with early breast cancer has taken place at regular intervals. As the international panel of the St. Gallen conference consists of experts from different countries and different disciplines, the votes do represent an international cross-section of opinions. Rationale: From the German perspective, it is considered useful to discuss the results of the votes with respect to the clinical routine in Germany. Five breast cancer experts from Germany are also members of this year’s St. Gallen panel. Basis: The discussion is based on the German treatment guidelines of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Gynaekologische Onkologie (AGO 2017) which is updated every year as well as the German S3-guideline that was also updated in 2017. Both guidelines are evidence-based.Results: The motto of this year’s St. Gallen Consensus Conference was “Escalating and De-Escalating”, which was the main focus through all treatment areas that were voted on. The rationale behind is the further individualization of treatment to reduce overtreatment as well as undertreatment. | ||
