| 520 | |a English Abstract: Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, first published in 1899 and one of the most widely read literary classics, has become a key analytical and semiotic point of reference in postcolonial and decolonial international legal scholarship. Although Conrad refrains from naming the setting of the novella, he describes the Belgian colonial regime in the Congo, but also transcends concrete historical references to stage a crisis of subjectivity and understanding of the world (Weltverstehen). The story’s complex narrative structure opens spaces of reflection of law and politics, in the midst of diverse globalisations; the unfolding crisis of narration confronts readers with central aporias of the present. In their transdisciplinary dialogical engagement with Conrad’s novella, Caroline Lusin and Alexandra Kemmerer explore narrative structures which have been developed in times of crisis, as aesthetic expressions of subjectively and collectively felt aporiae and transformations | ||
