Martinů wurde erst dort zum Symphoniker. Seine Ästhetik korrespondierte mit einer Hauptströmung der amerikanischen Musikanschauung. Enescu erfreute sich in den USA großer Wertschätzung und kam in zwei seiner Spätwerke dem Publikumsgeschmack entgegen. Und Bartóks Meisterwerk „Konzert für Orchester“ ist ein Paradebeispiel dafür, wie die Exilerfahrung das künstlerische Schaffen beeinflusste. Totalitarian systems in Europe forced numerous artists into exile. The East Central European composers Bohuslav Martin George Enescu, and Béla Bartók went to the United States. Only there did Martinů become a composer of symphonies. His aesthetics corresponded with the main stream of American musical views. Enescu was held in considerable esteem in the United States, and two of his later works accommodated public taste. Bartók's masterpiece "Concerto for Orchestra" is a prime example of how the experience of exile influenced artistic creation. | ||
