Zusammenfassung: | The article describes the development of German criminal legislation against corruption in the public sector from 1871 to the present. It shows that the criminal law directed against corruption in the public sector has expanded considerably in recent decades. Data from German criminal statistics on the reality of prosecution of corruption cases in the public sector are also presented. The number of cases coming to the attention of the police and the number of indictments and convictions are reported and it is shown which penalties are imposed. It is demonstrated that a significant number of cases do not result in indictments and convictions. The prosecution of corruption offenses is a complex phenomenon. |
