They recorded the members of the universities with additional information that increased over the centuries. The entry also documented in writing the membership of the university’s separate legal district as a community of teachers and students. This entry was part of the inscription process, which also included taking an oath of allegiance on a part of the gospels in the matriculation book. Women were only allowed to register in Heidelberg from 1900 onwards. |
