Improved measurement of CP violation parameters in B0S โ J/psi K+ K- decays in the vicinity of the phi (1020) resonance

| Summary: | The decay-time-dependent ๐ถโข๐ asymmetry in ๐ต0๐ โ๐ฝ/๐โก(โ๐+โข๐โ)โข๐พ+โข๐พโ decays is measured using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fbโ1, collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Using a sample of approximately 349 000 ๐ต0๐ signal decays with an invariant ๐พ+โข๐พโ mass in the vicinity of the ๐โก(1020) resonance, the ๐ถโข๐-violating phase ๐๐ is measured, along with the difference in decay widths of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the ๐ต0๐ โยฏ๐ต0๐ system, ฮโขฮ๐ , and the difference of the average ๐ต0๐ and ๐ต0 meson decay widths, ฮ๐ โฮ๐. The values obtained are ๐๐ =โ0.039ยฑ0.022ยฑ0.006 rad, ฮโขฮ๐ =0.0845ยฑ0.0044ยฑ0.0024 psโ1, and ฮ๐ โฮ๐=โ0.005โข6+0.0013โ0.0015ยฑ0.0014 psโ1, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. These are the most precise single measurements to date and are consistent with expectations based on the Standard Model and with the previous LHCb analyses of this decay. These results are combined with previous independent LHCb measurements. The phase ๐๐ is also measured independently for each polarization state of the ๐พ+โข๐พโ system and shows no evidence for polarization dependence. |
