Test of lepton flavor universality with 𝐡+ β†’ 𝐾+⁒ πœ‹+ β’πœ‹βˆ’β’ β„“+ β’β„“βˆ’ decays

Description
Summary:The first test of lepton flavor universality between muons and electrons using 𝐡+→𝐾+β’πœ‹+β’πœ‹βˆ’β’β„“+β’β„“βˆ’ (β„“ =𝑒, πœ‡) decays is presented. The measurement is performed with data from proton-proton collisions collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fbβˆ’1. The ratio of branching fractions between 𝐡+→𝐾+β’πœ‹+β’πœ‹βˆ’β’π‘’+β’π‘’βˆ’ and 𝐡+→𝐾+β’πœ‹+β’πœ‹βˆ’β’πœ‡+β’πœ‡βˆ’ decays is measured in the dilepton invariant-mass-squared range 1.1<π‘ž2<7.0 GeV2/𝑐4 and is found to be π‘…βˆ’1πΎβ’πœ‹β’πœ‹=1.3⁒1+0.18βˆ’0.17(stat)⁒ +0.12βˆ’0.09⁒(syst), in agreement with the standard model prediction. The first observation of the 𝐡+ →𝐾+β’πœ‹+β’πœ‹βˆ’β’π‘’+β’π‘’βˆ’ decay is also reported.
