| Riassunto: | The definition of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems (EE) – and their respective configurations – is commonly attached to predefined geographical boundaries. However, this approach has been increasingly deemed as limited to address the variegated spatial topologies in which EE are embedded. This is so because ‘insulated’ views of EE fail to address the dynamics of exogenous connections across territories. In this chapter, we draw from the ecological concept of migration to derive the spatiality of EE from relational linkages across territories. Empirically, we address the georeferenced networks of venture capital (VC) flows to four locations: Tokyo, Bangalore, Cairo, and Edmonton. We distinguish between three different types of flows: international, national, and regional. Our findings outline the existence of heterogeneous patterns of spatial topologies in the analysed EE. From this we derive a research agenda that aims at incorporating the notions of spatiality and ‘resource migration’ as critical pillars for EE research. |
