Description
Summary:This data collection supports the study investigating atmospheric methane (CH₄) emissions associated with marine sand dredging in the Westerland II sand extraction area offshore of Sylt (German North Sea). Measurements and sample collection were conducted aboard the research vessel RV Mya II during a research cruise on 7 July 2023. The collection comprises three complementary datasets generated during the cruise: Continuous atmospheric CH₄ mole fraction measurements collected along the cruise track between Sylt and the Westerland II sand dredging site. Laboratory analyses of discrete atmospheric air samples, including CH₄ and CO₂ mole fractions and the stable carbon isotope composition of methane (δ¹³C-CH₄). Laboratory analyses of water samples, including dissolved CH₄ concentrations and the stable isotope composition of methane (δ¹³C-CH₄ and δD-CH₄). Together, these datasets provide the atmospheric and dissolved methane observations, greenhouse gas measurements, and stable isotope data used to investigate enhanced methane emissions associated with marine sand dredging.
