The initiative was established to enhance national and international networking with regards to scientific collaborations in the cardiovascular field, and to support individual research activities.Professor Michael Böhm, the former president of the DGK, initiated the German Chapter of the Young Cardiologists to provide a platform for the next generation of cardiologists and cardiovascular scientists in Germany.
