Summary:This dissertation looks at the influence of crime on three important aspects of Mexico: The tourism industry, the threat of organized crime towards the Mexican youth and the spread of drug crime throughout the country. Even though crime has long been a present threat for the Mexican economy and society, this research project was motivated by the public security problem being faced by the Mexican Federal Government and the Mexican population since the end of 2006.
Diese Dissertation analysiert den Einfluss der Kriminalität auf drei wichtige Aspekte in Mexiko: Erstens, auf die Tourismusindustrie und die damit verbundenen Folgen; zweitens, die Bedrohung der mexikanischen Jugend durch organisierte Kriminalität und ihre Verwurzelung in der Gesellschaft; und drittens, die generelle Ausbreitung des Drogenverbrechens im ganzen Land. Kriminalität ist schon seit langer Zeit eine Bedrohung sowohl für die mexikanische Wirtschaft als auch für die Gesellschaft. Die Verschlimmerung dieses öffentlichen Sicherheitsproblems seit 2006, mit dem die mexikanische Bundesregierung und die mexikanische Bevölkerung zu kämpfen haben, ist die Motivationsgrundlage dieses Forschungsprojekts.
