Das geographische Spektrum reicht vom Rheinland über die Schweiz, Piemont, Ligurien und Rom bis nach Süditalien. In the course of French expansion around 1800 large swathes of territory were incorporated into the Empire as new départements. Gradually, these territories were also impacted by the reforms of the French Revolution. At the locus of interpretation between conquest and integration, this volume seeks to redefine the character of Napoleonic rule by examining key themes: geography and politics; society and war; economy and the environment; and representation and heritage.The geographic spectrum covered by the work extends from the Rhineland to Switzerland, Piedmont, Liguria, Rome, and Southern Italy. |
