Dynamic modeling of a single-stage MSF plant for advanced control purposes

For multistage flash (MSF) desalination processes, several dynamical models can be found in the literature. However, most of them are not suitable for analysis and control design purposes because they bring too many variables into play. In this paper, different models from the literature are analyze...

Description
Summary:For multistage flash (MSF) desalination processes, several dynamical models can be found in the literature. However, most of them are not suitable for analysis and control design purposes because they bring too many variables into play. In this paper, different models from the literature are analyzed and a simple model for control purposes is proposed. Finally, a block-oriented library for MATLAB/SIMULINK is presented, so that different plant configurations can be implemented as block diagram to simulate the system and to test control algorithms.
