Measurement of the π·* longitudinal polarization in π΅0βπ·*ββ’π+β’ππ decays
The longitudinal polarization fraction of the π·* meson is measured in π΅0 βπ·*ββ’π+β’ππ decays, where the π lepton decays to three charged pions and a neutrino, using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV and corresponding to an integ...

| Summary: | The longitudinal polarization fraction of the π·* meson is measured in π΅0 βπ·*ββ’π+β’ππ decays, where the π lepton decays to three charged pions and a neutrino, using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fbβ1. The π·* polarization fraction πΉπ·*πΏ is measured in two π2 regions, below and above 7 GeV2/π4, where π2 is defined as the squared invariant mass of the πβ’ππ system. The πΉπ·*πΏ values are measured to be 0.52 Β±0.07 Β±0.04 and 0.34 Β±0.08 Β±0.02 for the lower and higher π2 regions, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. The average value over the whole π2 range is πΉπ·*πΏ=0.41Β±0.06Β±0.03. These results are compatible with the Standard Model predictions. |
