| Summary: | The πΆβ’π asymmetry and branching fraction of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa-suppressed decay π΅+ βπ½/πβ’π+ are precisely measured relative to the favored decay π΅+ βπ½/πβ’πΎ+ using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fbβ1 recorded at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV during 2016-2018. The results of the πΆβ’π asymmetry difference and branching fraction ratio are Ξβ’ππΆβ’πβ‘ππΆβ’πβ‘(π΅+βπ½/πβ’π+)βππΆβ’πβ‘(π΅+βπ½/πβ’πΎ+)=(1.29Β±0.49Β±0.08)Γ10β2, βπ/πΎβ‘[β¬β‘(π΅+βπ½/πβ’π+)/β¬β‘(π΅+βπ½/πβ’πΎ+)]=(3.852Β±0.022Β±0.018)Γ10β2, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. A combination with previous LHCb results based on data collected at 7 and 8 TeV in 2011 and 2012 yields Ξβ’ππΆβ’π =(1.42 Β±0.43 Β±0.08) Γ10β2 and βπ/πΎ =(3.846 Β±0.018 Β±0.018) Γ10β2. The combined Ξβ’ππΆβ’π value deviates from zero by 3.2 standard deviations, providing the first evidence for direct πΆβ’π violation in the amplitudes of beauty decays to charmonium final states. |
