Riassunto:TO THE EDITOR:Multiple myeloma (MM) remains an incurable plasma-cell malignancy, and depth of response, particularly the achievement of minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity, correlates with long-term survival.1 Increasing evidence indicates that the gut microbiome and its metabolites shape systemic immune function and influence treatment outcomes in MM.2,3 For instance, depletion of short-chain fatty acid (SCFA)-producing bacteria was found in patients with MM,4 and higher SCFA abundance has been associated with superior therapeutic responses.3,5 A recent dietary intervention study demonstrated that a high-fiber plant-based diet favorably modulates the gut microbiome and immune milieu in myeloma precursor disorders.6 Building on these observations, we hypothesized that dietary fiber intake modulates microbiome composition and correlates with clinical outcomes in patients with newly diagnosed MM (NDMM).
