| Zusammenfassung: | This paper discusses the modes in which Claudius Marius Victorius represents and conceptualises the interplay between body and emotions in his biblical epic Alethia, especially against the backdrop of the Homeric epics. While typical cases in Homer reflect basic psychosomatic reactions in a very straightforward way, this is rather the exception than the rule in Victorius. Instead, Victorius sometimes constructs theological relations between a sin and a bodily punishment. His focus is not on a psychologically realist description, but on the ways in which God uses the body as a means to communicate with individuals and to set them back onto the right path. |
